Hi, I’m Dr. Marlon Haywood—an educator, nonprofit founder, and community strategist with over a decade of experience serving communities and helping others turn their ideas into impact. I founded Urban Male Network (UMN), a nonprofit organization dedicated to mentoring and empowering young men of color throughout Chicago. Through UMN, we’ve created leadership development programs, career readiness pathways, and safe spaces for young people to thrive.
I hold a doctorate in educational leadership and have a deep passion for teaching and equipping others with the tools to build sustainable nonprofits. Over the years, I’ve helped individuals and organizations form nonprofits, secure grant funding, and scale their missions to serve more people.
In this course, my goal is to give you real, practical knowledge—whether you’re starting from scratch or refining your idea. I’ll walk you through every step of the process—from forming your nonprofit legally to crafting a grant proposal that speaks directly to funders. I’m excited to share what I’ve learned and help you bring your vision to life.
Let’s build something meaningful together.
