Money Management Basics by Financially Taught

About Course
This financial literacy course explores the foundations of personal finance through the lens of psychology, culture, and lived experience—specifically centering Black and African American earners. Participants will reflect on the societal pressures, historical barriers, and limiting norms that have restricted wealth-building opportunities in Black communities. The course goes beyond the numbers, diving deep into the emotional roots of money habits, the impact of generational narratives, and the mindset shifts required to break cycles of scarcity.
Through a blend of financial education and self-reflection, students will learn how to set clear, values-based financial goals, build sustainable wealth habits, and begin developing the confidence to invest in their futures. We’ll explore strategies to overcome internalized money shame, reframe fear around investing, and cultivate daily practices that foster financial peace and possibility. Practical tools for budgeting, saving, debt management, and credit-building will be paired with tips and mindset techniques to shift from survival to stability—and ultimately, from stability to legacy. By the end of the course, participants will leave with the knowledge, clarity, and empowerment needed to disrupt generational patterns and write a new money story rooted in worth, purpose, and joy.
