About Course

Sobriety 101: Forget Everything You’ve Ever Heard About How to Get Sober is a        7-week course that explores the emotional groundwork of sobriety—before “Day One,” before the plan, before the label. Through honest conversation, cultural context, and community, students are invited to unpack silence, shame, and survival in a space that centers truth over fear. It’s not about Day One—it’s about feeling worthy to consider it.

Please Note:
This course is built on group participation, open reflection, and vulnerable conversation. If you’re not ready to engage in a shared space or speak honestly about your experience, this may not be the right time for you to take this course.

First day of class is May 28th!

Week 1: You’re Not Broken, You’re Just Tired
We begin gently. This week is about arriving, releasing the need to have it all together, and naming the emotional exhaustion that’s been quietly wearing you down. You don’t have to be ready—you just have to be willing.

Week 2: Breaking the Silence: When You’ve Been Taught to Keep It In
We explore the cultural and generational silence around pain and healing—especially within our communities. We name the cost of keeping it all in, and begin practicing what it means to speak without shame.

Week 3 – “I’m Fine” and Other Lies That Kept You Stuck
This week is about emotional honesty. We reflect on the masks we wear, the survival strategies we’ve normalized, and what starts to shift when we finally admit what’s real—especially to ourselves.

Week 4 – Scar Stories
We revisit the pain we’ve been rehearsing and ask: is this still a wound—or has it become a scar I’m afraid to let heal? This week is about reframing the stories we tell ourselves about who we are and what we’ve survived.

Week 5 – Who Are You Without the Coping?
When the drink, the distraction, or the control is gone—who’s left? This week, we explore identity beyond survival and begin to reconnect with the self that’s been buried under coping mechanisms.

Week 6 – When It Starts to Make Sense
This is when the fog starts to lift. We talk about the quiet clarity that comes after vulnerability, and what it feels like when healing starts to feel like something real—not performative, not forced, just yours.

Week 7 – The Day Before Day One
We close with intention, not pressure. This week is not about making a decision to quit—it’s about noticing that you might finally feel worthy enough to consider it. We explore what readiness really means and how to move forward gently, on your terms.
