Course Content

Logic and Arguments
We will study what logic is, the structure of arguments, and workshop understanding philosophical jargon.

Decartes’ Meditations
Students will read Meditations on First Philosophy by René Descartes. We will discuss each meditation, its interpretation by the students, and what makes Descartes the "father of modern philosophy."

Knowledge, Truth, and Innerstanding
This section of the class will be more discussion focused and explore common talking points in today's society and the foundation of them. Students will bring their own perspectives and use philosophical arguments to challenge/defend them and practice forming logical arguments.

Introspection
Students will create a project to be completed by the end of the course that shows their unique process of introspection. This section of the course will further incorporate spirituality as we dive deeper into western philosophy and its relevance today.

Passion Papers
Students will write expository essays about a topic of passion. Prior lessons and coursework should be implemented into writing a publishable paper that expresses their spirituality.

Collective Reflection
Students will share their introspective projects. To wrap up the course, students will discuss the course and share their personal growth, feedback, and further commentary.
