About Course

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of effective communication in personal, professional, and social spaces. Through culturally aware, emotionally intelligent lessons, we’ll examine how early life experiences shape the way we express ourselves—and how to unlearn habits that no longer serve us. ENG-C 101 blends real talk with real tools—offering handouts, discussions, and relatable examples rooted in real-life relationships, workplace challenges, and personal growth. You’ll leave with communication skills that are both authentic and impactful.

What Will You Learn?

  • Identify how upbringing and environment shape communication patterns
  • Understand the role of perception and emotional triggers in miscommunication
  • Use 'I statements' to express thoughts clearly and reduce defensiveness
  • Practice active listening, summarization, and emotional validation
  • Recognize and de-escalate conflict using basic techniques
  • Set and communicate boundaries with clarity and confidence
  • Identify when to disengage from unproductive conversations
  • Understand nonverbal cues, body language, and tone
